Kathleen Bailey is a Professor of the Practice and Director of the Gabelli Presidential Scholars Program and the Islamic Civilization & Societies Program at Boston College. She holds a Ph.D. and A.B. from Boston College. Her research focuses on ethnic and regional politics in the former Soviet space, particularly Uzbekistan and Central Asia, with a forthcoming book on clan dynamics in Uzbekistan. She teaches courses on Muslim regions, including Central Eurasia, Middle Civilization, and the Balkans.
