Marsin Alshamary is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boston College, affiliated with the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from MIT and a B.A. from Wellesley College. Her research focuses on Middle Eastern politics, particularly Shi’a religious institutions, civil society, and protest dynamics in Iraq. She is currently completing a book manuscript exploring the historical role of the Iraqi Hawza in shaping modern protests and governance.
