Dr. Katherine Weikert is a Senior Lecturer in Early Medieval European History at the University of Winchester's School of Humanities. She holds a PhD from the University of Winchester and has taught at Oxford University, Bath Spa University, and Harlaxton College. Her research focuses on gender, space, and authority in medieval England and Normandy, with a particular interest in hostageship, material culture, and the political uses of the past. She is the author of Authority, Space and Gender in the Norman Conquest Era (2020) and co-editor of volumes such as Early Medieval Winchester (2021). Dr. Weikert is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and actively engages in public history through TV appearances (e.g., BBC's Bone Detectives) and heritage projects.

Research Interests: Anglo-Saxon/Norman social history, gender archaeology, medieval memory, and public history.
