Katherine Singer is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Notre Dame Law School since 2000, teaching in the Comprehensive and Intensive Trial Advocacy programs. She instructs the Moot Court Trial class and coaches trial competition teams. Her primary affiliation is with the University of Notre Dame’s law school, while concurrently working in the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office Juvenile Charging Division. She holds a Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School, where she excelled in trial advocacy and received multiple awards.
Education: Juris Doctor, Notre Dame Law School (awards noted); undergraduate studies at Hope College. Pre-law career included service with the United Methodist Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Research interests focus on criminal justice, trial advocacy pedagogy, and child welfare law, reflected in her roles as prosecutor, legal advocate, and academic. She pioneered the Elkhart County Child Abuse Review Project (2011–2013), ensuring best practices in child abuse investigations. Notable roles include Deputy Prosecutor (St. Joseph County, 1997–2002), YWCA Legal Advocate (2002–2004), and part-time prosecutor (Elkhart County, 2018–2020).
Awards highlight her trial advocacy expertise: Barrett and May Awards, Dean Konop Legal Aid Award, and David T. Link Award. She contributes to legal education through NITA Teacher Training and Mid-Central Trial Advocacy programs.
