Katherine Richardson

Katherine Richardson is a Professor in Biological Oceanography at the University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on the role of biological processes and biodiversity in carbon cycling within the upper ocean and their impacts on food webs and the global carbon cycle.

She leads the Queen Margrethe and Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Ocean, Climate, and Society (ROCS) and contributes to the Planetary Boundaries framework. Her work emphasizes the urgent need to address human impacts on Earth's systems.
