Katherine McCormack serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Fire Science and Professional Studies department at the University of New Haven's Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, teaching EMGT 6635 (Political and Politics as the Basis of Emergency Management) in the Emergency Management Masters Program.
Her academic credentials include:
- B.S. in Nursing from Russell Sage College
- Master of Public Health (MPH) from Yale University
- Health Care Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certification (2006)
Professionally, she specializes in emergency management systems, public health crisis response, and disaster exercise design. Her nine years of consulting experience as an exercise controller/evaluator inform her expertise in healthcare emergency preparedness and Medical Reserve Corps coordination, with emphasis on governmental and community-level response frameworks.
Her recognition includes:
- Elizabeth Fitch Memorial Leadership Award from the national Medical Reserve Corps Program (2018)
She currently directs the Capitol Region Medical Reserve Corps and actively contributes to the CT Emergency Management Association (CEMA) and International Emergency Management Association (IAEM), having served as IAEM Region 1 secretary/treasurer and currently representing Connecticut.
