Dr. Katherine Koh is a historian of the Christian Reformation and currently serves as Chair of the Department of History, Politics, and Sociology at La Sierra University. She joined the Honors Program faculty in 2024 as the Honors Scholarship Coordinator, teaching courses UHNR 364 and 464. Her academic journey began at La Sierra University as an Honors Program student in 2000, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and intellectual curiosity. Koh’s research focuses on the intersection of religion, violence, and politics, particularly in the Tudor period. She is currently editing letters by Sir William Cordell, a Catholic statesman under Elizabeth I, exploring his navigation of religious and political tensions.
Her research interests stem from her early life as a pastor’s child, frequent relocations, and exposure to Ireland’s history during the 1990s conflicts. Koh emphasizes empathy and structure in her teaching, aiming to help students produce publishable scholarship. Beyond academia, she prioritizes family life with her husband Shawn and daughter Sophia, enjoying hobbies like gardening, sewing, and daily reading.
