Katherine H. Grenier

Dr. Katherine H. Grenier is a Professor in the Department of History at The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Her research focuses on 19th-century Britain with specialization in Scottish history, tourism studies, and cultural practices like Sabbatarianism.

She co-edited Cultures of Memory in the Nineteenth Century (2020) and authored the award-winning Tourism and Identity in Scotland (2005), which explored how tourism shaped Scottish national identity. Her current research examines Sabbath observance practices in 19th-century Scotland.

Dr. Grenier has held leadership roles in the Southern Conference on British Studies and the Nineteenth Century Studies Association. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Tourism History.
