Katherine Chilton is a Lecturer in the Department of History at San José State University. She holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University (2009) and an M.A. from the University of Sussex (2001). Her research specializes in urban slavery and emancipation in the District of Columbia, focusing on women's experiences and interactions with the Freedman’s Bureau.
