Katherine Bright serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary, Assistant Professor at Mount Royal University's School of Nursing and Midwifery, Child Health & Wellness Researcher at the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute, and Associate Member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. She also works as a triage coordinator at the Women’s Mental Health Clinic in Alberta Health Services.
Her research program focuses on mental health across the lifespan, with specialization in youth, young adults, and perinatal populations. Key areas include internet-based transdiagnostic interventions and innovative trauma therapies such as Multi-Modal, Motion-Assisted, Memory Desensitization and Reconsolidation (3MDR), aiming to develop personalized treatments that overcome barriers like limited therapist availability and financial constraints.
Dr. Bright completed a Health System Impact Postdoctoral Fellowship investigating e-mental health platforms for youth across ten Alberta communities under supervisors Dr. Scott Patten, Dr. Gina Dimtropoulos, Dr. Kay Rittenbach, and Kerry Bales, with mentorship from Dr. Deb McNeil, Dr. David Johnson, Dr. Frank McMaster, and Dr. Elizabeth Oddone-Paolucci.
