Katherine Bermingham

Katherine Bermingham is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Rutgers University, where she has been since January 2020. She also holds a Visiting Assistant Professorship at the University of Maryland and a Smithsonian Research Associateship with the National Museum of Natural History.

Education:

• Bachelor of Sciences (Honors) in Chemistry and Earth Sciences from the Australian National University, Australia
• PhD in Natural Sciences (Cosmochemistry and Isotope Techniques) from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, Germany (as a Marie-Curie Early-Stage Research Fellow)
• Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Research Scientist at the University of Maryland, USA

Research focuses on high-precision isotope geochemistry and cosmochemistry, integrating isotopic data with astrophysical modeling. She leads the Earth and Planetary Science Isotope Laboratory (EPSIL), developing analytical techniques like TIMS and LA-ICP-MS. Her NASA/NSF-funded projects explore Solar System origins and Earth's cosmochemical evolution.
