Katharine Whitcomb

Katharine Whitcomb is a Professor of English at Central Washington University, specializing in poetry and creative writing. She holds a B.A. in English from Macalester College, an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and was a Stegner Fellow in Poetry at Stanford University. Her research explores the emotional intensity and narrative cohesion in poetry, with a focus on themes of identity, memory, and human connection. Whitcomb is the author of three poetry collections, including the 2024 release Habitats, and a satirical art book The Art Courage Program. She has received prestigious awards such as the Bluestem Award and Backwaters Prize. Her work is published by Poetry NW Editions, University of Nebraska Press, and Jaded Ibis Press.
