Dr. Katharine Steentjes is a Lecturer in Psychology at Swansea University's School of Psychology, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. She holds a PhD in Psychology (University of Exeter), an MSc in Social Psychology (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), and a BA in Health Psychology (University of Twente).
Her research focuses on Environmental Psychology and Social Transformations, particularly examining social normative processes around climate change, net zero behaviors, public risk perceptions, and strategies for climate change communication. She develops engagement frameworks to support personal, community, and national actions addressing climate impacts.
Katharine serves as a UKRI policy fellow with Northern Ireland's Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and is an associate member of the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformation (CAST). She is available for postgraduate supervision at Swansea University's Vivian Building, Singleton Campus.
