Katharina Wrohlich

Katharina Wrohlich is a Professor of Public Finance, Gender and Family Economics at the University of Potsdam and leads the Gender Economics Research Group at DIW Berlin (German Institute for Economic Research). She specializes in evaluating family, tax, and social policies, alongside analyzing gender disparities in labor markets.

• Education: Studied economics at the University of Vienna and Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.); obtained a PhD from Freie Universität Berlin in 2007.

Research Focus: Her work intersects public finance, gender economics, and labor market analysis. She investigates how fiscal and social policies impact family dynamics and gender equality.

Affiliations: Active at DIW Berlin since 2002, she served as Deputy Head of the Public Economics Department (2012–2016) and became Head of the Gender Economics Research Group in 2019. Previously, she worked as a research associate at the University of Münster’s Institute of Public Finance.
