Dr. Katharina Weiger is an Academic Librarian at the Max Planck Institute for Art History in Florence. Her research focuses on Early Modern art in Southern Italy, German-Italian cultural relations, and 19th-century cultural history. She holds a PhD from the Free University of Berlin (2018) with a dissertation on 14th-century Italian painting and Anjou court art. Prior roles include a postdoctoral fellowship (Gerda Henkel Foundation) in a digital edition project on Ferdinand Gregorovius’s letters, and a Master’s in Library and Information Science (Humboldt University, Berlin). Since 2020, she has been part of the Institute’s library team.

Research Interests: Weiger’s work bridges art historical analysis with transnational cultural studies. Her recent focus includes:

- Artistic exchanges between German and Italian courts
- Risorgimento-era cultural dynamics
