Katharina Kohl

Katharina Kohl is a Research Scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) in Kiel, Germany, since 2021. Her academic career spans roles at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (2009–2015), University of Hagen (2014–2017), and Medical School Hamburg (2014). She holds a doctorate in Psychology (2016) from Ruhr-Universität Bochum and a Diplom in Psychology (2009) from Trier University.

Her research focuses on parental school involvement, educational aspirations, and developmental outcomes for students with and without immigrant backgrounds. Her recent work examines longitudinal effects of early childhood education and the role of parental homework assistance in secondary schools.

Key themes in her publications include child development, educational equity, and methodological innovations like propensity score analysis. She is also a member of the Committee for Environment and Sustainability (KliN) since 2022.
