JProf. Dr. Katharina Fürholzer is a Junior Professor for Interdisciplinary Research at the Institute of German Studies, University of Koblenz. She has held academic roles at institutions including the University of Rostock, University of Pennsylvania, University of Ulm, and WWU Münster, focusing on interdisciplinary intersections of literature, ethics, and medicine.
- Training: Habilitation (Dr. phil. habil.) at University of Innsbruck (2024); Joint Ph.D. in General & Comparative Literature from WWU Münster & Ghent University (2017); Master's degrees in Scandinavian Studies, Comparative Literature & American Literary History (LMU Munich, King's College London).
Her research bridges literary studies, ethics, and medical humanities, addressing topics like European humanitarianism as narrative, literature at the end of life, and speech disorders as poetic techniques. She has secured significant funding from programs such as the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, Professorinnenprogramm III, and the University of Koblenz's Career Fund.
