Katharina Chudzikowski is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Organisation Studies at the University of Bath's School of Management. She is affiliated with the International Centre for Higher Education Management (ICHEM) and the Centre for Future of Work, serving as Co-Director of the latter. Her research focuses on careers in professional contexts, including consultancy, academia, and apprenticeships, with a particular emphasis on relational career theories, cross-cultural dynamics, and the impact of climate change activism on professional trajectories.
Her research interests include career resilience, career transitions, and the socio-cultural construction of careers across diverse cultural contexts. She is a core member of the 5C Cross-Cultural Collaboration on Contemporary Careers, exploring how careers are shaped by national cultures and institutional frameworks. Her work also addresses workplace representation of knowledge workers, qualitative research methodologies, and the challenges faced by researchers in vulnerable fieldwork settings.
Dr. Chudzikowski has contributed to over 70 research outputs, including studies on career success schemas, employer-employee psychological contracts, and the moderating effects of economic factors on career outcomes. Her recent work examines how climate change initiatives influence professional roles and identities, leveraging Bourdieusian theory to analyze power dynamics and institutional change.
She has led and collaborated on multiple research projects, including the 5C II initiative and studies on content moderation and information security in banking. Her grants include funding for qualitative research training and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Chudzikowski actively supervises doctoral students focusing on careers in professional service organizations and higher education contexts.
Her research bridges macro-level societal trends with micro-level career experiences, emphasizing interdisciplinary dialogue and methodological innovation.
