Kate Zhou

Professor Kate Zhou is a faculty member at the University of Hawaiʻi since 1994, serving in the Department of Political Science. She holds a PhD in Politics from Princeton University (1994), MA in Politics from Princeton (1992), MS in Sociology from Texas A&M University (1989), and a BA in English from Wuhan University (1982). Her research focuses on Chinese economic development, globalization in East Asia, comparative business studies, Asian entrepreneurship, and policies addressing aging populations in the Asia-Pacific region.

Community Engagement: Founder of the Education Advancement Fund International, which won the 2006 Templeton Freedom Award for empowering rural women in China through education and microloans. Current initiatives include expanding study-abroad programs for underprivileged students via partnerships with Iolani School and enhancing senior care services in the Asia-Pacific region with the Department of Public Health.
