Dr Kate Roberts is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the School of Social Sciences, Nottingham Trent University. Her research focuses on cognitive psychology, specifically addressing ways to support older adults' cognitive abilities through interdisciplinary methods. She holds a PhD in auditory attention from the MRC Institute of Hearing Research and has held postdoctoral roles at the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick. Her work investigates auditory cognition, perceptual clarity, and decision-making processes in aging populations. She is currently funded by a UKRI Ageing Research Development Award exploring strategies to ease everyday decisions for older adults.
Research areas include multisensory integration, auditory attention, and perceptual learning. Notable studies examine how multisensory information impacts memory and decision-making across ages. Her systematic reviews and clinical collaborations address health communication and sensory deficits. Recent projects involve developing models of auditory attention and evaluating interventions for age-related cognitive challenges.
Key achievements include the Ageing Research Development Award and contributions to understanding neural correlates of aging-related perceptual and cognitive decline. Her work bridges cognitive science, neuroscience, and healthcare applications, emphasizing practical solutions for aging populations.
