Kate Lavelle is a Professor in the Communication Studies department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She serves as the Department Chair and teaches courses in Public Communication and Advocacy, including CST 498: Research Methods. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Rhetoric & Communication from Wayne State University and leadership roles in academic administration.

- B.A. in Speech Communication & Political Science (John Carroll University, 2000)
Kate has been at UWL since 2013, previously serving as FYS Coordinator (2023-2025) and Public Speaking Center Director (2018-2023). She specializes in communication criticism, rhetoric, and interdisciplinary applications of communication studies to sport and public discourse.
