Dr. Kate H. Flory is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina, affiliated with the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. She leads the Flory Arise Lab, focused on advancing research and interventions for ADHD. Dr. Flory holds a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University, and M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kentucky. She completed clinical training at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine).
Her research examines outcomes of ADHD in children, adolescents, and young adults, including substance use risks, academic/social impairment, and mental health challenges. She develops cognitive-behavioral and health-focused interventions (e.g., exercise programs) for college students with ADHD. Dr. Flory collaborates nationally to model ADHD prevalence and study childhood adversity's role in symptom development. She has secured grants from the CDC, IES, NSF, NIH, and NIJ.
Dr. Flory teaches graduate and undergraduate courses, serves on journal editorial boards, and is an active leader in the USC Department of Psychology. Her lab emphasizes translating research into public education to combat ADHD misconceptions. She is currently accepting students for Fall 2025.
