Dr. Kate Golebiowska is a Senior Research Fellow at Charles Darwin University (CDU), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Society and the Northern Institute. She coordinates the Master of Public Policy program and previously led the BA Honours Program (2020–2024). Her research focuses on the economic, social, and demographic impacts of international migration in regional contexts, with comparative studies in English and French. She teaches sociology, Cultural Intelligence, and qualitative research methods. Key projects include the HEPPP initiative on First Nations students and a scoping study on gambling behaviors in non-English speaking NT populations.
Education:
- PhD, Regional Policy for Skilled Migration in Australia and Canada (Australian National University, 2002–2007)
- Master, Economic Immigration after WWII (University of Warsaw, 1995–2000)
Research Interests: Migration's regional impacts, labor market integration, multicultural policy, and culturally responsive education. Recent work examines Ukrainian refugee integration in Poland and First Nations student engagement in Australian universities. Her projects emphasize policy relevance and community-driven solutions.
Advising & Grants: Supervises postgraduate research and leads projects funded by CDU and external bodies. Collaborates on initiatives like the Start:ME micro-business accelerator for migrant entrepreneurs.
Labs/Teams: Active in CDU’s Northern Institute, focusing on migration, regional development, and education equity. Engages in interdisciplinary networks through conferences and policy submissions.
