Kate Firks

Kate Firks is a Lecturer in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and Initial Teacher Training (ITT) at the School of Education, Marjon University. She holds multiple qualifications including an MA in Education from the University of Plymouth and a PGCE from the University College of St Mark and St John. Her research focuses on supporting children with vision impairments, autism, and intersectional approaches to SEND, alongside critical pedagogy. She teaches across programs such as BA Primary Education and BEd Secondary Education.

Her publications explore topics like music subcultures, educational research methodologies, and teacher training for autism. She is a Fellow of Advance HE (2018). Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programs, emphasizing inclusive education practices.
