Dr. Kate Early serves as Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for Exercise Science within the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at Columbus State University's College of Education and Health Professions. She teaches core courses including Kinesiology (KINS 3135), Exercise Prescription (KINS 4133), Pathophysiology for the Exercise Science Professions (KINS 4135), Data Analysis (EXSC 6135), and Medical Terminology (ITDS 2106), demonstrating comprehensive expertise across the exercise science curriculum.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University, M.A. in Exercise Science from Central Michigan University, and B.S. in Biochemistry from Central Michigan University. This interdisciplinary foundation bridges biochemical principles with advanced exercise physiology applications.
Research focuses on cardiovascular physiology under environmental stressors, particularly heat exposure and hydration dynamics. She investigates cardiovascular disease risk factors through the lens of gender and racial disparities, examining both athletic populations and clinical cohorts. Current work integrates environmental physiology with practical rehabilitation strategies, emphasizing real-world health outcomes in diverse demographic groups.
Publication trends (2018-2022) reveal strong interdisciplinary connections between exercise science, nutrition, and clinical physiology. Key themes include postpartum athletic rehabilitation, positional performance analysis in team sports, functional food interventions for vascular health, blood flow restriction methodologies, and circadian-based nutritional approaches for metabolic disorders. These studies consistently employ human subject research across athletic, clinical, and community settings.
