Dr. Kate Earl is a full-time Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Hertfordshire since December 2019. She serves as the Year 1 Lead for BSc (Hons) Nutrition and BSc (Hons) Dietetics programs, leading modules across Levels 4-6. Her academic career includes prior roles as Senior Researcher at The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), where she led national dietary surveys and bio-social data collection projects.
Her research focuses on dietary components' impact on musculoskeletal health (cytokine signaling, redox homeostasis), public health surveys (e.g., National Diet and Nutrition Survey), and nutritional interventions. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Liverpool (2016), MSc in Human Nutrition from the University of Glasgow (2012), and BSc in Nutritional Biochemistry from the University of Nottingham (2011).
Recent projects include investigating plant-based milk alternatives' environmental impact and dietary management strategies for psoriasis. She collaborates in initiatives like the Skin Microbiome in Healthy Ageing study and shelf-stable organic pasta development funded by BBSRC.
