Dr. Kate Cartwright is the Director and Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico School of Public Administration. Her research focuses on health disparities, particularly in rural New Mexico and the Zuni Pueblo community, addressing healthcare access, leadership shortages, and culturally tailored cancer screening interventions.

Her work spans health policy, rural health infrastructure, cancer prevention, and community-based participatory research. Recent projects examine the impact of legal environments on healthcare workforce shortages, strategies to enhance cancer screening uptake, and the effects of Medicaid expansion on marginalized populations.
Dr. Cartwright’s research portfolio includes collaborations with federal agencies like the National Institutes of Health and community organizations such as Mandy’s Farm. Her publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to health equity, integrating qualitative insights and quantitative analyses.
