Kate Bowers is a Professor of Security and Crime Science and Head of Department at University College London's Department of Security and Crime Science. She is also Director of the Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science, with over 30 years of experience in crime science research.

Kate's research focuses on quantitative methods and data analytics in crime analysis and prevention, with special interests in predictive policing, big data approaches, evidence-based crime prevention, and innovative data utilization. Her work explores spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal crime patterns, crime radiation theory, and the relationships between crime and environmental context.
Her research has been funded by organizations including the UK Government, US Department of Justice, Police, and UK research councils (EPSRC, ESRC, AHRC). She has contributed to three world-leading REF case studies and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Crime Science Journal.
