Kate Blackmon is an Associate Professor in Operations Management at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. She holds dual roles as a Tutorial Fellow in Management Studies at Merton College and has served as Senior Proctor (2014-15). Her expertise spans operations strategy, service management, gender diversity in leadership, and research methodologies. Educated at Clemson University (BS Chemical Engineering), Queens University of Charlotte (BA Business), and the University of North Carolina (MBA/PhD), she brings industry experience from nuclear power station design to academic leadership.
Her research focuses on optimizing organisational performance through strategic operations frameworks and addressing gender gaps in leadership. She has authored/co-authored key works like Researching Business and Management and is completing a book on gender leadership dynamics. Kate chairs the University's Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee and sits on multiple editorial boards, contributing to policy development in academic research ethics and library governance.
Teaching innovations include the 'flipped classroom' approach in MSc Major Programme Management courses, emphasizing active learning. Her advisory roles span executive education programmes and cross-university committees, reflecting her commitment to advancing both academic and practical managerial practices.
