Dr. Katarina Zorić is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Hydroecology and Water Protection within the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" (National Institute of the Republic of Serbia), affiliated with the University of Belgrade. She graduated from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2005 and earned her PhD in 2015 with a dissertation on "Invasiveness of non-native macroinvertebrates and fish species of the Danube River".
Her research focuses on
- Ecology of freshwater ecosystems
- Invasive species dynamics
- Conservation of native and invasive crayfish populations
- Role of aquatic macroinvertebrates in biomonitoring
- Environmental risk assessment methodologies
The Department contributes to EU Water Framework Directive implementation, ecological status assessment of water bodies, and TransNational Monitoring Network initiatives. Dr. Zorić has authored 97 publications, with 21 in international journals cited 100 times. She actively participates in national and international projects, including the Joint Danube Survey 5 and collaborations under COST Actions.
