Katarina Keane

Katarina Keane is a Lecturer and Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of History at the University of Maryland, College Park. From 2012 to 2023, she served as Executive Director of the Center for Global Migration Studies, an interdisciplinary research center focused on immigration and migration studies.

She holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Maryland, College Park, where her dissertation examined Southern women's activism during the 1960s–1970s feminist movement. Her research specializes in post-1945 social movements with emphasis on:

• Gender dynamics in political and social contexts
• Women's roles in historical transformations
• United States social change movements
• Intersection of regional and national activism

Her publications analyze second-wave feminism in the American South and female conservatism, contributing to historiography on gender politics and regional social movements in 20th-century America.

As Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies, she oversees academic programs and student advising. She previously led the Center for Global Migration Studies, coordinating interdisciplinary research on migration patterns and immigrant experiences.
