Katalin Wilkinson

Katalin Wilkinson is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London and the University of Cape Town, and a Senior Investigator Scientist at the Francis Crick Institute. Her work focuses on clinical and immunological aspects of tuberculosis, particularly in HIV-coinfected populations. She holds a PhD from Eötvös University Budapest (1997) and has conducted postdoctoral research at institutions including Case Western Reserve University, Oxford University, and Imperial College London. Her research spans TB pathogenesis, host immune responses, and comorbidities like diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Key research interests include: TB-HIV co-infection dynamics, immune mechanisms in TB progression, and translational applications of immunology in infectious diseases. She leads collaborative projects with the Centre for Infectious Diseases Research in Africa and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles.

Recent work highlights include studies on blood-brain barrier dysfunction in TB/HIV patients, cytokine response clusters in healthcare workers, and biomarker development for TB-related mortality. Awards include Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences (2017).
