Katalin Lukács is a Visiting Assistant Professor, Professor of Practice, and Staff Accompanist at Tulane University’s Newcomb Department of Music within the School of Liberal Arts. Based in New Orleans since 2011, she is a prizewinning pianist renowned for her work in classical and contemporary music.

Research interests focus on promoting contemporary music, particularly works by women composers, and innovative performance practices. She actively collaborates with ensembles like Versipel New Music and the Astralis Duo (formed in 2014 with soprano Stephanie Aston), emphasizing new music dissemination in New Orleans.
Performance highlights include appearances at festivals such as Darmstadt New Music Courses (Germany), Ostrava New Music Days (Czech Republic), and the TWEAK Festival (Ireland). She has performed with groups like redfishbluefish, Ensemble Zs, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella Series.
Contributions include recordings for labels like Mode and New World Records, featuring compositions by Stockhausen, Scelsi, and Stuart Saunders Smith.
