Kat Scott

Kat Scott is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Design at the Manchester Fashion Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University, where she teaches across the department and develops projects with international collaboration and industry integration. Her notable projects include sustainable denim initiatives with Hirdaramani and Stella McCartney, cross-disciplinary collaborations with Wuhan Textiles University, and online international learning programs with Pearl Academy.

Her research focuses on Sri Lankan craft traditions, South Asian creative industries, denim sustainability, and pedagogical innovation in fashion education. She holds an MA in Creative and Cultural Industries Management from Northumbria University and a BA in Textile Design from the University of Edinburgh.

With over seven years of experience as a design educator in Southeast Asia, she has led curriculum development at the Academy of Design in Sri Lanka and contributed to the Sri Lanka Design Festival. She is a certified CIRCO trainer specializing in circular economy principles.
