Dr. Kassim Traore is a Professor and Founding Chair of the Department of Biochemistry at Duquesne University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. Previously, he served as Professor and Chair of Biochemistry and Genetics at Campbell University's School of Osteopathic Medicine (2015-2023) and held academic roles at Elizabeth City State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Howard University and completed postdoctoral training in toxicological sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
His research focuses on reproductive toxicology, particularly the effects of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (e.g., phthalates) and pharmaceutical drugs on steroid hormone synthesis in the testis. He employs biochemical, pharmacological, and molecular methodologies, including in vitro and in vivo studies in animal models, to investigate mechanisms underlying male reproductive dysfunction and aging.
Dr. Traore has secured multiple NIH research grants and authored numerous scientific papers. His work bridges basic science and translational medicine, addressing critical questions in environmental health and pharmacology.
