Dr. Karsten Seidelmann is a faculty member at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, affiliated with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Department of Animal Physiology. He has served as Head of the Chromatography Laboratory since 2006 and previously held roles as a Research Associate (2002) and Scientific Assistant (1995) at the same department.
- Education: PhD in Zoological Ecology (1995) with a thesis on the reproductive biology of the red mason bee, Osmia rufa; MSc in Biology/Zoology (1991) focusing on population ecology of Osmia rufa.
His research interests include the neurohormonal control of pheromone biosynthesis in desert locusts, reproductive physiology of migratory locusts, pheromone studies in mason bees (Osmia genus), and the behavioral ecology of Hymenopterans, particularly solitary bees. Teaching activities encompass lectures and seminars on hormone physiology, pheromone physiology, applied entomology, and practical courses in animal physiology.
He has received the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes scholarship (1991-1994), which supports outstanding students in Germany.
