Karsten Schmidt is a Professor at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, holding the chair for corporate law. He served as President of Bucerius Law School from 2004 to 2012 and is now an Affiliate Professor. His affiliations include directorship of the Notarial Law Center for Family Businesses.

- Doctorate in corporate law (1972) and habilitation in civil, commercial, and corporate law (1975/1976) at the University of Bonn.
