Karsten Schilde

Dr. Karsten Schilde serves as a Lecturer at the University of Kassel within the Department of Building Conservation and Timber Construction, part of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He maintains an active dual career as both an academic and professional structural engineer, currently working as a consultant for DB Netz AG since 2013.

His research interests focus on practical structural engineering applications including timber construction, building conservation, and advanced reinforcement techniques with carbon fiber and concrete bonding. His expertise extends to metal construction and welding technology, reflecting a comprehensive approach to structural engineering challenges.

Dr. Schilde completed his doctorate in 2005 with research on carbon fiber reinforcement systems for concrete structures. His professional background includes significant industry experience with major German railway infrastructure companies alongside academic research positions at both the University of Kassel and MPA University of Stuttgart.
