Karol Kisiel

Karol Kisiel is a Lecturer at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk since 2013, affiliated with Faculty I – Conducting, Composition and Music Theory. He holds a doctorate (2013) and a postdoctoral degree (2020) in conducting. His expertise spans choral and symphonic conducting, early music, and contemporary composition.

Education: Studied at Gdańsk Academy of Music (Prof. Marcin Tomczak), Musikhochschule Lübeck (Prof. Gerd-Müller Lorenz), and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Prof. Toomas Kapten). Enhanced skills via masterclasses with Arthur Sjögren, Colin Metters, and others.

Research and Artistic Work: Focuses on early and contemporary music, collaborating with composers like Tõnu Kõrvits and Paweł Łukaszewski. Founded and directed the Estonian ensemble Repertorio Vocale (2010-2013) and the Simultaneo Vocal Ensemble (since 2015), earning awards such as the Gold Diploma at the International Religious Music Festival in Rumia. Organized conducting courses with Grammy-winning artists like Jaan-Eik Tulve and Signe Asmussen.

Awards: Includes scholarships from Polish and Estonian institutions, and recognition for his academic achievements and artistic contributions.

Additional Roles: Founder and president of the Polihymnia Foundation, dedicated to promoting early and contemporary music. Taught at Heidelberg’s Pedagogical University (2012, 2016) and organized international conducting workshops.
