Dr. Karly Bartrim is a Lecturer at the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences within the University of Queensland's Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences. As an Accredited Practising Dietitian, she holds a Bachelor (Honours) of Nutrition and Dietetics from Griffith University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Queensland.
Her research focuses on three interconnected pillars:
- Nutrition interventions for healthy ageing and quality of life
- Aged care systems, models of care, reform, and policy
- Dietetic curriculum and workforce development
With prior experience as a clinical dietitian in aged care settings, Dr. Bartrim leads a research program involving Aged Care Dietitian-Researchers. She has supervised Honours and Masters students to completion and maintains an active publication record in nutrition, dietetics, and aged care journals. Her work frequently employs scoping reviews, surveys, and qualitative methodologies to examine workforce challenges and nutritional care standards in residential aged care facilities.
While no specific scientific awards are documented, Dr. Bartrim has presented at national/international conferences and secured research funding. She is available for student supervision and media inquiries related to aged care nutrition, workforce development, and malnutrition.
