Dr Karlie Stonard is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Wolverhampton, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Business, and Social Sciences and the Department of Social Sciences. She is a member of the Violence Against Women and Girls Research Cluster and holds an ORCID identifier (0000-0001-7431-6225).
Her educational background includes a PhD in Psychology from Coventry University (2012–2016), an MA in Criminology (2010–2012), and a BA in Criminology (2007–2010), all from Coventry University. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and Professional Practice from the University of Wolverhampton.
Dr Stonard's research centers on domestic and gender-based violence, particularly the impact on children and young people and the role of technology in adolescent dating violence. Her work combines academic rigor with practical experience supporting victims of domestic abuse.
She has been awarded significant research grants, including the AHRC-funded SmartSafeSigning project focused on Deaf inclusion in domestic violence support and criminal justice, as well as multiple AHRC Catalyst Awards and a Head Start Needs Assessment grant.
Her recognition includes being named a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2017. She actively contributes to teaching and professional academic activities at the university level.
Dr Stonard is involved in collaborative research initiatives, particularly through her work on funded grants with colleagues such as McDaniel J, and within the Violence Against Women and Girls Research Cluster, demonstrating strong team-based and interdisciplinary research engagement.
