- BA (Hons), Deakin University
- PhD, Deakin University (2024)
Her pioneering research in voiceless victimology examines silenced victim groups through three interconnected pillars: disability justice (focusing on Deaf communities and people with disabilities), legal animal abuse, and green narrative criminology. Current projects include collaborations with Safe + Equal on disability-inclusive domestic violence research and Deafness Forum Australia on weaponization of disability in abuse cases, supported by secured Auslan interpretation funding.
Her recent publications reveal a distinct trajectory from foundational work on child-animal relationships (2020) to sophisticated analyses of speciesism in animal cruelty laws (2025) and intersectional violence against Deaf women. The research consistently bridges academic rigor with community impact, featuring in The Conversation and ABC Radio.
Dr. Letico's teaching practice integrates trauma-informed experiential learning through partnerships with Victoria Police, Neighbourhood Justice Centre, and Therapy Dogs Victoria. She actively supervises graduate research on family dynamics in youth crime, parental responsibility reforms, and sports injury jurisprudence.
Her research methodology emphasizes community co-design, particularly through partnerships ensuring accessibility for Deaf participants. Current funded work focuses on developing inclusive frameworks for domestic violence research with Deaf communities.
