Dr. Karl Jirgens is a Professor at the University of Windsor's Department of English and Creative Writing. He previously served as Head of the English Department and Chair of the Creative Writing program. His research focuses on contemporary and Canadian literature, literary theory, digital culture, and postcolonial studies. He has authored books including Bill Bissett and His Works and Christopher Dewdney and His Works, and edited volumes on Jack Bush and collaborative expression. His scholarly articles appear in journals like Canadian Literature and World Literature Today.
Education: B.A. (Hons.) from University of Toronto, M.A. and Ph.D. (Distinction) from York University.
He founded and edited Rampike, an international literary journal, from 1979 to 2016. His creative works include poetry, fiction, and performance pieces featured in journals worldwide. A martial artist, he holds a long-term practice in Tae Kwon Do.
