Professor Karise Hutchinson is a Professor of Leadership at Ulster University and Provost of the Coleraine campus. She holds a PhD in SME international management and has been a key member of the Business Management Research Institute since 2006. Her research focuses on leadership development, entrepreneurial resilience, and SME strategies, with significant impact recognized through awards like the British Academy of Management Education Practice Award (2016) and Chartered Management Institute’s Top Industry Article Award (2013). She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and serves on various boards, including the Causeway Enterprise Agency and the British Academy of Management Council.
Her scholarly contributions span leadership frameworks for small businesses, crisis management, and retail internationalization. She authored Leadership Development for Small Business: The Power of Storytelling (Palgrave Macmillan) and has published widely in international journals. Her work bridges academic research and industry practice, with engagements in media commentary on economic issues and leadership in Northern Ireland.
