Karisa Templeton is an Assistant Professor of Voice at North Dakota State University's Challey School of Music, joining in 2020. She holds a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, a Master of Music in Voice Performance & Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Cedarville University.

Her research focuses on innovative voice pedagogy curricula and culturally responsive teaching practices in applied music studios. She has performed with organizations such as Opera on the Avalon, Princeton Opera Festival, and Beijing Festival Chorus, with operatic roles spanning works by Britten, Handel, Mozart, and Copland.
Templeton has held diverse roles including vocal masterclass clinician, Choral Director of the Wabash Glee Club, and collegiate/church handbell ensemble director. She previously taught international high school students in Beijing and Tianjin (2008-2011), which inspired her research into cross-cultural music education.
