Charles Prestinari serves as Senior Lecturer in Music (Collaborative Piano) and Opera Coach at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, where he joined the inaugural collaborative initiatives team in 2016. He concurrently directs music at First United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Indiana.
His academic credentials include:
- Doctor of Music (D.M.) and Master of Music (M.M.) in Choral Conducting with minors in organ and sacred music from Indiana University
- Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) from Indiana University
Prestinari's expertise centers on collaborative piano techniques, opera production coaching, and choral preparation across diverse repertoires from Puccini to contemporary works. His professional focus integrates performance practice with vocal pedagogy in operatic contexts.
Throughout his career, Prestinari has shaped major productions as chorus master for San Diego Opera (2011-2016), New York City Opera (2004-2011), and Aspen Summer Music Festival (2014, 2017-2020). He has prepared choruses for the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, New York City Ballet, and Manhattan School of Music, conducting notable works including Carl Orff's Carmina Burana at Lincoln Center.
As an active church musician, he has held organist positions across New York, New Jersey, and San Diego, currently serving as music director at First United Methodist Church in Bloomington.
