Kari Northeim

Dr. Kari Northeim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population & Community Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center's College of Public Health. She holds a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of North Texas, an MBA from Syracuse University, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University. Her expertise spans environmental sustainability, public health policy, and geospatial analysis, focusing on air pollution impacts, climate change, food security, and pre-hospital care. She chairs the Interprofessional Education program, leading graduate training across health disciplines.

Research Interests: Dr. Northeim investigates air pollution policy and social vulnerability, climate change health consequences, and sustainable food practices. She employs geospatial information systems (GIS) and location-allocation modeling. Her work includes developing public health alerts for minority communities and advancing pre-hospital care techniques.

Advising & Grants: She leads the Parker County Hospital District EMS-sponsored projects on rural emergency medical systems (2023–2026). Her teaching includes courses on environmental determinants of health, climate change, and GIS applications. She actively collaborates with the Texas Education Agency and the American Public Health Association.
