Karen Youmans, Ph.D., is a Professor of English at Oklahoma City University's College of Arts & Sciences. She specializes in medieval literature, particularly Chaucer and hagiography, and teaches courses such as Western Literature, Liberal Arts Seminar, and Honors Junior/Senior Seminar. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates historical, philosophical, religious, and literary inquiry. Youmans currently serves as the University Honors Program Director and holds board memberships with the Conference on Christianity and Literature and SCIO (Scholarship and Christianity in Oxford).
Her research interests span medieval studies, gender analysis in literature, and the intersection of faith and literature. She has explored texts like The Aeneid, Chaucer's Wife of Bath, and modern works such as Cormac McCarthy's The Road, emphasizing thematic and cultural contexts. Beyond teaching, her professional contributions include leadership in academic honor societies and scholarly organizations focused on religion and literature.
