Dr Karen Watson is a Senior Lecturer in Healthy Ageing and Care of the Older Person at the Sydney Nursing School, University of Sydney. Her academic background includes a PhD, Bachelor of Nursing (Honours), and a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy. She combines clinical experience in nursing and complementary therapies with academic expertise to address care challenges for older adults.
Her research focuses on improving aged care through workforce training, resource development, and inclusive care practices. Key areas include dementia care, medication management, and interprofessional collaboration. Watson has contributed to projects like the HIRAID® Aged Care framework and interdisciplinary reablement programs for individuals with cognitive impairment.
