Karen Pattrick is a Lecturer in Nursing (Child) at the University of Hull, affiliated with the School of Nursing and Midwifery within the Faculty of Health Sciences. With over 20 years of experience as a staff nurse in paediatrics, she transitioned into academia in 2015 through a lecturer practitioner role, moving to full-time academia in 2019. Her clinical background includes work at Bradford Royal Infirmary and Hull Royal Infirmary’s Paediatric High Dependency Unit, focusing on critical care for children.
Education: She holds an MSc in Health Studies (2015–2018, part-time) from the University of Hull and an Advanced Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing from the University of Bradford. Her research interests center on nursing education, student collaboration, and integrating clinical practice with academic training. Notably, she co-authored a 2023 conference presentation on designing educational events to foster student growth and interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare.
